champion of the underdog
strange as it may seem, i hate champions. im all for the underdogs. be it sports or entertainment or everyday life... i prefer the underdogs to the champs. dheres always an urge in me to see the champs being toppled by an unsuspecting, harmless-looking, run-of-the-mill darkhorse. i guess it brings more variety and a wave of fresh breeze into the scene. looking at it from the underdog's POV, that incident wud his life's single greatest moment. a moment that he wud cherish for the rest of his life.
and looking at it from the champs POV, it wud seem even more interesting. the look of shock on the erstwhile champ's face is a sight to be behold. thats like a reminder to say, nothing should taken for granted in this world.
i can cite many examples where i hate to see the champs win...again. most prominent in the list wud be the Australian Cricket Team - The Juggernaut. i know they are best 11 member outfit ever to have walked the pitch, i know its a thrill to watch their professionalism and their committment, i know they are the dream team for any nation...but nothing gives me more joy than seeing them being beaten. imagine my joy when they lost to their competitive rivals South Africa after posting that mammoth 420 plus total. thats a fairy-tale match for every sports-lover.
the nxt prominent person that i wud LOVE to see loose is the German who fires up the F1 track - schumi. how much i love to see that arrogant bastard loose...surely hez the finest driver in the F1 circuit till date, but his arrogance puts me off. talent does not give u a go-ahead to be arrogant. moreover its no fun if schumi wins all the races. i mean we all need some action, some drama, suspense, anxiety and excitement in our sports. monotony is the last thing u want in sports.
and ofcourse the Brazilian Football team. the most prominent football nation since the beginning of the world cup. personally im a gr8 fan of ronaldinho and his football dexterity. nevertheless, i prefer a German or Portugal or an Argentinian win.
gr8 admirer of Federer, but wud love to see Blake steal a win from "Him".
i never understood why writers refer to a champs loss as an "upset". common ppl, not everybody is upset coz the champ lost. dhere are quite a few who are enthusiastic abt it - one person/team in particular. and that upset win means more than anything else in the world to the hard-fought winner. this darkhorse winner deserves every accolade and more for his/their achievement, considering the fact that he/they overcame all odds. hence its not fair to call it an "upset".
jus reflect upon the so-called greatest upsets in sports. and in every one of them, u can see history being made. ppl have been talking abt it for years and will be talking abt it for years to come. keep at it, underdogs....

...a dialogue
r: My head is flooded with an ocean of questions so I thought I'd bug you with one. I hope you don't mind!
Do you ever think that people marry (with the excuse or reality of love) simply to avoid being alone? That being alone is such a frightening concept that they forge ahead into marital bonds to avoid the experience? I look around and see people who marry because it was the "next step" in life, or because they don't want to be alone, because their spouse is physically beautiful. I also hear people say that they date because they can't be happy by themselves. It's weird how that's true for a lot of people. Blaaah... what say you?
ish: well one of the main reasons y ppl get married is coz, as u sd "its the next step". there's a life cycle to follow for every1. study, get a job, marry, have kids, make sure the kids are settled, retire from work, and lead an OLD life.
any aberration is not socially accepted. but most importantly if u dont follow the life cycle u are a "social outcast". and along wid it comes all kinds of branding. ppl start thinking dheres something physically wrong wid u, mayb that u are an homosexual, or jus outright crazy.
its this fear of being a social outcast that make ppl conform to the society. have u ever heard the saying "patters are apriori".
dhere are these set patterns that are made in advance, and u are moulded by the society to fit into this pattern.
also ppl marry coz of their physical/sexual needs. u mite say, u can have sex widout marriage. but then in a country like india, thats exactly not how things go on. is it?
on a personal basis i cant totally deny that im an exception to this rule. though im one who doesnt care much abt the society, i still dont want to be unanimously be hated by the entire population. so i wud rather fit-in.

of sports and movies
sports and movies are somthing that appeals to my all my senses. so its only natural that movies made on sports are a BIG thing wid me. dheres something more abt such movies apart from the high-flying sporting action. most of these movies are based on true stories. stories abt men who had to overcome many odds to make it a perfect fairy-tale ending. so apart from being a wonderful "action" movie, these movies are in many cases "inspiring".
foremost in the list wud be Remember the Titans. dheres never been a better made sports movie than this. denzel washington was THE MAN. ive lost count of the number of times ive seen the movie. its beyond my comprehension to decipher this pop quiz - "why was denzel not given an Oscar for Remember the Titans?" a man of such calibre, for his performance in that movie being denied an Oscar still beats me.
another movie worthy of mention is Coach Carter. though the movie was awe-inspiring it cannot be put in the same league as Titans. the reason wud lie in the performance put in by Denzel. Samuel L. Jackson , despite being a gr8 actor was a misfit for the role of a coach. i wud have preferred a more energetic and agile Denzel than an old and weary Samuel for the role.
Glory Road was another gud attempt at making an inspirational sports movie, but coz of the lack of a strong performance by any1 in particular, the movie wud jus be branded "watchable". Friday Night Lights was another poor attempt at appealing to the sports aficionado. how can a not-so-happy-ending be inspiring???
on the lighter side of things The Replacements is a fantastic comedy-sports-movie. there is a very nice feeling abt that movie that makes me watch it as many times as is humanly possible. same is the case wid The Longest Yard or Water Boy.
and then dhere is Jerry Maguire.......
JM is in a class of its own --- cut-throat-competetive-romantic-comedy-sports-dramatic movie. i wud consider it one of the best movies ever made. the movie had to be big hit wid the audience. it has something for everybody. competition and business strategies in a field never b4 ventured by any hollywood movie makigf franchise - sports agents. whoever took sports agents seriously???
dheres the wonderfully romantically picturized scenes between Tom Cruise and Renee Zellewegger. and then dheres the cutest big-mouth 8-year old ever in Hollywood. who can forget Kwan-lover Cuba Gooding Jr.?
the movie sure has to be one of the best made ever in hollywood. and the best part is that JM has set a standard for all sports movies. a standard that wud be tough to beat. well i can only pray to the Lord of Movies - whoever that is - to bless us wid more gud quality awe-inspiring sports movies.

i will survive.....
ok enuf of the goody goody me. its time to get nasty and let my emotions run high and bitch abt the world. ever since i came to the US ive seen a lot and had to go thru a lot. every once in a while, i get an unpleasantry jolt that brings me face to face wid the harsh realities of life. and in this past 2 years ive seen a lot, experienced a lot and learnt a lot of lessons too. and quite recently as a week ago, i learnt another harsh lesson. never trust anyone. ok now thats a really scandulous thing to say. so lemme put it in a toned-down version. never have any kind of expectations from any1.
dheres no such thing as "trust" when it comes to business. in business the only things that matter are partners and profits. no place for friends and favors. to succeed in business ppl delve in lies, deceit, lack of concern for human emotions, loss of morality, hypocrisy and downright bastard-ism.
they have an amazing tendency to put up this perfect gud-natured and lovable side and yet be a complete motherfucker behind those oh-so-fake front. but wht my foes dont realise is that i aint no sissy either. and i can beat them at their own game, in a more convincing manner. the joy in defeating ur foes at their own game is jus beyond any comparision. right now i can give up anything in the world to look at the faces of my foes when and if they realise the damage i caused them.
i guess its time for me to tell the world, I am a Mallu and I am a Scorpion, and u better not mess wid me. I may have been a victim, but I am also a Survivor, so FUCK YOU world....

music for the soul
Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way.
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way.
Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain.
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you.
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun.
So you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again.
The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older,
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death.
Every year is getting shorter never seem to find the time.
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over,
Thought I'd something more to say......
Time by Pink Floyd - in my opinion the best composed song that this world has ever witnessed. everytime i listen to the song - the count of which now cud be approaching a million - i enjoy it like i was hearing it for the first time. and everytime it never stops to amaze me, of the sheer brilliance sorrounding it. how can those men conjure up such a worldly wisdom in so simple a style and turn it into the most ear soothing music, is a question that still need answers.
much has been sd abt Pink Floyd over the yrs. i wudnt even think of doing a music review of these Holy Men. i wud leave that to the experts. coz all i know and care is that i jus love their music and it levitates me into a different world. ive never got high on pot, but i guess wht it means to be in a state of absolute bliss by hearing Time or for that matter Breathe and Money, infact i wud say Dark Side of the Moon... err...wait lemme jus say whenever i hear Pink Floyd.
Pink Floyd is proof enuf of God's Existance.

the better things in life...
i wanna start my blogging on a positive note. and it dint take me more than a second to decide on the one postive thing to write abt. in a life filled wid common-place, boredom and nothingness, "she" really has given me a reason to exist. "exist" i shud say is an understatement. she brot reason and purpose when she entered my life. a sense of direction and a cause to live and die for...
no shez not a magician who changed my life into a fairy tale. she dint obliterate my sorrows or heal my wounds. but she was like a monsoon, that brot great amounts of happiness and sorrow and left me completely soaked.
when i am wid her...which is rare...i can jus comfortably shut da fuck up and listen to her talk, blabber, or argue in general abt nothing or jus watch her go abt doin her routine, and still feel closer to her than ever b4 - a quality that ive never seen anybody else possess.
every couple feels that they are "made for each other" and that they cudnt be happier wid anybody else, or that their love interest is "da best in the world". i wudnt dare as argue on that, after all thats when u call it "true love" huh?
most ppl dont realise the meaning of a true love. ive seen ppl fall i love coz their partner can make them laugh any time of the day, or that they can talk on the phone for hrs together, or coz they have similar likes and dislikes. but dat i guess this is not the true defnition of a true love. true love is all abt giving you moral support at the worst of times, abt making you look beyond ur failures, abt telling u that no matter the failures u are still a hero in my eyes. its abt judgin ur mood by the tone of ur opening words - be it over the phone or online. its abt standing by every decision u make, right or wrong, jus coz she trusts u in whtever u do. its also abt willingness to make the most unthinkable compromises to see-you-thru, in times of turmoil and desperation.
thats when u feel the world is not such a bad place after all...and dat there are a few things that are worth living and dying for...

a late entrant
and finally... the blogging community sucessfully entices another victim into its web. for years this valiant soul had fought hard against being taken-in, wid all might. but i guess i was waging a loosing battle...the end was near. the foes once again proved that their war-strategies were fool-proof. boredom and inaction...thats wht gets u in the end.
so here i am...bruised, tired and completely lost. now wht??? i feel like "alice in wonderland", or better still Neo in a compter program. i guess im to write stuff that makes loads of sense to me but utter nonsense to my readers. the bigger and greater the nonsense the better the comments...so i heard.
ive spent the last one week reading blogs of complete strangers. the blogs ranged from random musings on a meta-physical level to utter nonsense on a daily-chores level. from mind-blowing to complete pedestrain, from personal tastes to no-holds-bar-rantings.
this only added to my confusion. wht to write? but i guess the answer is "jus be urself" and write shit in general. i dont want to labeled a rebel in the blogging community by being a maverick. so i mite as well walk wid the herd.
so here i am, bloggers of the world, wid my very own personal random musings....
